My priorities for Collingwood

1. Responsible Growth
Collingwood is growing, but growth needs to be managed—not simply accommodated. Ensure new development is matched with the roads, water, wastewater, parks, recreation and other infrastructure that residents need.

2. Protect Taxpayers
Keep property-tax increases under control and make every municipal dollar work harder. Before spending more, Council should look for efficiencies, prioritize essential services and consider the long-term cost to taxpayers.

3. Infrastructure That Keeps Pace
Collingwood needs infrastructure planning that looks beyond the next election cycle. Roads, bridges, water systems, recreation facilities and public spaces should be planned, funded and delivered with clear timelines and accountability.

4. Get Projects Built — On Time and On Budget
George’s strongest differentiator is his record. Major municipal projects shouldn’t become open-ended commitments. Council needs clear budgets, timelines and accountability from the planning stage through completion.

5. Protect Collingwood’s Character
Growth shouldn’t mean losing what makes Collingwood special. Development should respect existing neighbourhoods, the waterfront, heritage, natural areas and the character of the community.

6. A Stronger Local Economy
Support local businesses and create an environment where businesses can invest, grow and create jobs. Collingwood should be open for business while ensuring development contributes positively to the community.

7. Regional Cooperation
Collingwood doesn’t operate in isolation. Transportation, housing, tourism, environmental protection, emergency services and infrastructure increasingly require cooperation with neighbouring municipalities and Simcoe County.

8. Protect Our Environment
Growth and environmental stewardship have to go hand in hand. Decisions affecting Georgian Bay, local waterways, green spaces and the surrounding watershed should be based on long-term sustainability.

9. Better Accountability at Council
Residents deserve to know what Council is deciding, why decisions are being made and what they will cost. Encourage clear reporting on major projects, municipal spending and Council priorities.

10. Listen to Residents
Council should be accessible and responsive. Residents shouldn’t have to fight to be heard. George could commit to regular communication with residents and meaningful public input on major decisions.
